The West Suffolk Fine Wine Society was formed following an informal gathering of contacts and friends in 1995. The idea was to organise occasional tastings, where the atmosphere and conduct of meetings would be one of enjoyment, rather than a studious examination or analysis of wines.

The Society has a membership of just under a 100 composed of friendly and sociable people that have remained true to the early concept of the organisation.

The annual programme of events features regular wine tastings at Great Barton Village Hall. A monthly Newsletter is sent to members with details of all the events, and can be read in that section of the website.

In addition to wine tasting we have food and wine pairing events, the occasional meal and outdoor summer events at notable venues in and around Bury St Edmunds. The variety continues to attract a very high proportion of the membership attending.

As an indication of cost, the Tastings, that usually take place during the evening of the second Monday in most months, are normally charged to cover costs at £11.00 per person. Other events are priced to reflect commercial and other costs incurred.
